MOVIE MAKING

"If a picture is worth a thousand words, then imagine the power of a video"

Video is the most popular form of entertainment, be it a professional movie or an amateur clipping. If the video is good, it spreads like a wild fire and thus the idea transcends any boundary. The Movie Making competition asks the students to explore their creative side and solve what might be considered the toughest problems facing our world.

Movie making provides an opportunity for everyone to innovate ingenious solutions and showcase them to the world. The stage is set in the form of internet (e.g: YouTube) for the whole world to see your understanding and innovation and recognize your contribution. The center of attention over here is also this years theme "Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems".

So, take a friend along (team of max. 2 members only) and create a digital media experience and you shall see how the stands up and takes notice of what you have to say. God speed..



TIME LINE
The competition starts on 12th Jan 2010 12:00 AM (IST) and shall conclude on the 3rd day of the SOLUTIONS 2010.

ELIGIBILITY
Every bona fide student of Army Institute of Technology is eligible.

REGISTRATIONS
1. A team can consist only of 2 members max. of the same branch (same batch not necessary).
2. Any no. of teams per branch can participate.
3. Do register for the imagine cup 2010 - Digital Media individually at http://imaginecup.com/Competition/mycompetitionportal.aspx?competitionId=39
4. You can also taking part in the IC 2010 digital media round 1 by uploading the round 1 entry of movie making competition as we have modeled the Movie Making competition as per Digital Media of IC 2010.

WHAT CONSTITUTES AN ELIGIBLE ENTRY?
To be eligible the entry needs to meet the following requirements :

1. The theme of the video should focus on tackling the problems of hunger relief, poverty, education, disease control, healthcare, the environment and other crucial problems facing our world today.
2. The time limit for the video is 15 - 20 mins overall.
3. However for the first round, where in we will be expecting a preview of the video, the time limit will be 2 to 3 minutes.

Round 1:
1. The video preview shall be over 2 mins and under 3 mins.
2. The video preview must address the Innovation Cup theme: Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems e.g: hunger relief, poverty, education, disease control, healthcare, the environment and other crucial problems facing our world today.
3. (Optional) The video can also be used to take part in Imagine Cup 2010 - Digital Media event by the same team only as it shall have benefits mentioned below.

NOTE: the Digital Media competition of IC 2010 does not have a preview and its time limit is 2 to 3.5 mins NOT 15-20 mins. You can however take part in Digital media by condensing the video for Movie Making or by submitting the preview of Movie Making as the entry for Digital Media.


JUDGING
The judging criteria will be entirely based on the content of the video. A panel of judges shall select upto 8 videos which will enter the final round. The decision of the judges shall be final and binding to all the participants.

Also, it is important to note that if the video qualifies for the round 2 in Imagine Cup then it shall automatically come in final round of the Movie making event therefore, it is requested for everyone to participate in IC 2010- digital media event.

The final round shall be conducted along with SOLUTIONS 2010 and the results shall be declared on the 3rd day of SOLUTIONS 2010.
