Tech-Parliament: Doubts and Clarifications

It seems as though there are a lot of  FAQs/Doubts regarding Tech-Parliament.

We have spotted out a few:
1. Which technology should we focus on?
2. What are the new technologies which companies are working on and which is the best?
3. Do we need to know how to work with any of the technologies?

We will be adding this as a part of the general FAQs.

When the thought of Tech-Parliament 1st came to our mind it was not about any of those things. So I will try and clarify a few things on this post. And please feel free to shoot us a mail, if you have any doubts after reading this post.

Tech-Parliament is not about knowing which are the existing/recent/archaic technologies or any sort of comparison between them. Tech-Parliament will be about making an argument on a given issue which might be associated with all these "technologies". But making that argument will have nothing great to do with the technologies themselves. It will be more about:

  1. Ethics, specifically in the world of business as that is the place where technology is mostly used.
  2. Intellectual Property Rights, which again loops back to ethics really. So even a vague idea of the rights are fine, as long as you are able to understand the context of the debate.
  3. Profit and Loss. Now this is basically about how much are you gaining or loosing by making a particular argument. The gain/loss can be measured in terms:
          • Money
          • Success
          • Growth
          • And anything you feel is a suitable metric. It will be really up to you, to decide as to which is more important and convince us accordingly.
Remember, the more convincing you are, the higher are your chances of winning the Tech-Parliament. But, knowing the .NET/Java Platforms or the ARM 11 Processor or the latest on the Internal Combustible Engine will not increase or decrease your chances of winning. However, if you start showing off or irritating us by side-tracking the Parliament to a technological symposium sort of discussion well then it will most probably not act in your favor.

The purpose is to
  • Make you think logically
  • See how well you can speak out that logic
  • And ONLY acquaint you with the technologies of yesterday/today/tomorrow by the end of the debate.
The purpose is NOT to:
  • Make you masters in any technology. That our teachers are better at doing. :)
  • See how much you know about technology. That is the job of U.o.P.
Hope this helped.

Still do not hesitate about shooting that mail. ;)

  2. Hi Vishwajeet,
Let me put it this way...The Parliament will be like a multi-dimensioned debate, instead of a 2-dimensional debate(for-against) or a 3-dimensional Group Discussion(for-middle.ground-against). It will be more than that...there will be multiple factors, some will lead you to a profitable situation others wont. you will have to support the factors that give u the most profit.

Your profit can also vary.So that i guess makes things more complex. :)

    Hope this helped.
